21/05/19 - Lesson Evaluation - Machine Vice and RGTS Vice comparison & analysis

In this lesson I need to assess the current vice, that being RGTS vice and compare it to an ordinary machine vice. I would need to see how doing research and investigations can help me find the solution to my product requirements by meeting these requirements this will allow me to address the solutions. machine vice is a clamping device used to hold a workpiece securely when operating a machine tool, such as a drill press or milling machine after doing an in depth analysis of the machine vice I will need to compare this vice to the RGTS Vice. This is used in a variety of engineering projects as a way to make sure that components are manufactured accurately.

ACCESSFM - Machine vice

Aesthetics - Regarding the aesthetics of machine vice it looks fairly appealing to the customer as the blue and the silver fit together nicely.
Cost- The machine vice normally retails at £130 which is a fair price for this vice and what the vice is capable of doing
Customer- As a customer the product is provides its basic requirement and does what it is suppose to do. It is easy to use and holds objects within the jaws of the vice when milling process is carried out.
Environment- Unfortunately it is quite large, meaning that it will take up a lot of space on a worktop and would interfere with other projects so the only thing I would improve is the size of this device.
Size- This is large enough to hold components in it when they need to milled by the milling machine. As stated before I would make the size of this device smaller so it takes up less space and can allow the operator to carry out more procedures in the workshop environment.
Safety- When using the device I discovered that there were no sharp edges on the component and it was completely safe to use when carrying out certain operations.
Function- When using this device I discovered that it was very easy to operate and was reasonably mobile when it came to carrying out basic operations.
Materials- The material is reliable and appears to last a long time.
